Embarrassing event really, well past the end of the Madchester moment. Two day 'Festival', with one day featuring The Wonderstuff, The Beautiful South, The Soup Dragons, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Cabaret Voltaire, The Buzzcocks, The Railway Children, Ruthless Rap Assassins, Paris Angels etc, and the next day headlined by Electronic featuring guest appearance by Pet Shop Boys, plus Revenge, A Certain Ratio, and New Fast Automatic Daffodils. The line-up was a bit arse-end, and the sound was poor (the loudest noise was the noise of a scene being milked dry).
I DJ'd onstage all through the Saturday night including just before the Wonderstuff who were one of my very least favourite bands ever. They'd just had a hit with 'Dizzy'. Not happy; especially once I realised it wasn't going to be easy to get off stage once they'd started. Can't remember what I played though; probably something totally inappropriate and unhelpful.
